Growing up especially in the church world there was an unspoken standard for how one was supposed to behave, speak, and dress even. I mean I had a stage where I was creative with my fashion but I always tried to please others and be as likeable as possible. Nothing too risque. Sometimes I tried to please others so much it went against my own convictions. It wasn't until one day in an argument with my step mom did I realize how far it had gone. She told me "YOU ARE LIKE WATER! , you completely changed shape and form with your environment!". She meant that I had become a plastic person, or like a Stepford kid. It was something that really stuck with me. To just be honest and let people see who you truely are. To grow to be that vulnerable with people is intense at first. But it was one lesson in life I learned to appreciate. The scriptures tell us that god made each and every one of us uniquely. With all of our good characteristics, and our flaws as well. He made us full knowing everything about us. It also says in the bible that he made us in his image. I cant encourage others to be themselves enough. Be creative. Don't be afraid of what others think, because if they are judging you then they are probably confined to social chains themselves. Love yourself! And set a standard for yourself to be unique, the way the good lord intended!
